Repair and maintenance of Faraday cages
We advise you to carrie out a field strength measurement after several years to see if the shielding performance of your screened room / Faraday cage still meets the requirements.
Think of for example damage of the EMI shielding foil in Faraday cages, accidentally penetration of the Faraday cage wall, aging of Faraday cage door gaskets or losses of resilience with rubber gaskets or BeCu fingerstrips.
We therefore advise you to carrie out a field strength measurement after several years of use of your Faraday cage as maintenance to see if the shielding performance of your EMI screened room / Faraday cage still meets the requirements. This, we recommend, so that you can continue to use the Faraday cage with the attenuation levels as these were in the first instance and to prevent failure and problems with the equipment in your Faraday cage.
What if the shield is no longer sufficient?
Holland Shielding Systems BV offers a variety of EMI shielding tapes and foil, (including plated fabrics and metal foil tapes), electrically conductive adhesives, electrically conductive coatings, Rubber EMI gaskets and BeCu fingerstrips.
The above products are generally used for the repair of broken EMI shieldings. For example with mu -copper tape, it is possible to repair damage in a Mu-copper Faraday cage. Of course it depends on what the attenuation of the Faraday cage is. In other cases, it may be necessary to provide a new EMI shielding coatingor glue.
The best is when you discover damage to contact us. Possibly you can e-mail pictures of the damage and send specifications of the Faraday cage / EMI screen room such as the attenuation level and the dimensions.
